15. Arbeidarrom - spisebrakke (frå 1883)

Dette var spisebrakke for arbeidarane ved Gamlegruva.

I Nygruva (1917) kom det “kåkar” (spiserom) på kvar stasjon. Kåken var ein liten tunnel, 5-6 meter lang og eit par meter brei. Midt i kåken stod eit bord og to benkar spikra saman av uhøvla bord. Bordet blei aldri vaska. Kåken hadde inga oppvarming, og blei bare tømt for søppel kvar gong direktør Gjertsen kom på inspeksjon.

Workers room - lunch room (from 1883) 

This was lunch room for the workers of the old mine.

In the new mine (1917) there was made a lunch room at each level, called "kåk". The "kåk" was a small tunnel, 5-6 meters long and 2 meters wide. In the centre was a table and a couple of benches, nailed together of rough boards. 

The table was never cleaned. The "kåk" was not heated, and garbage was only removed when director Gjertsen came on inspection.
